Tuesday, September 30 at 8 pm, join us for the premiere performance of the "Music at Risk" project – new music by Judd Greenstein, Dai Fujikura, Ying Wang and Jagoda Szmytka – as recorded live this summer at the 2014 Lucerne Festival.

Recorded September 3 in Switzerland, the concert begins with Jagoda Szmytka's Inane Prattle for trumpet and ensemble, a frenetic, entrancing cloud of extended techniques. The Seeming Disorder of the Old City, by Judd Greenstein, a work about risk in the context of building an urban community from the ground up.

Wondrous Steps for six instrumentalists by Dai Fujikura is inspired by the risk management skills of toddlers, who try to walk despite the knowledge that they will fall many times before they succeed. Ying Wang's Groovulation for ensemble and electronics is constructed around the question of what the youth in China can do to inspire change and reduce the risks of their everyday lives.

The works are performed by an ensemble of Lucerne Festival alumni conducted by Chin-Chao Lin, with live electronics by David Poissonnier and Maxime Le Saux, in a space designed by visual artists bauhouse.
